CORTE MADERA, Calif. – September 2, 2008 – SL Corporation, a leading provider of real-time monitoring, analytics, and visualization software, today announced that Spirent Communications plc (LSE: SPT), a global provider of performance analysis and service management solutions, selected SL’s RTView to enhance the reporting functionality within the Spirent Perform operations support system (OSS). The integrated solution helps Spirent provide customers with a fully supported and extensible visualization solution that meets their current and future management needs.
“RTView’s robust and extensive feature set helps ensure our Perform clients have the ability to deliver the most effective dashboards, alerts and reports for their businesses, now and going forward,” said John Cunningham, vice president, Service Assurance at Spirent Communications.
Spirent Perform is an advanced OSS that provides automated quality of service (QoS) monitoring and assurance to help companies such as Qwest, Embarq, and Sprint/Nextel manage Service Level Agreements. The latest release of Perform, version 2.0, fully incorporates the RTView platform, and all existing reports have been migrated to RTView.
Spirent upgraded the standard reporting functionality within Perform to a more comprehensive and customizable visualization offering. They chose to work with SL Corporation because of RTView’s reputation and capabilities beyond standard reporting, including:
- DBMS support for retrieving data from sources such as XML streams, Web Services, HTM/Scrape, JMS
- Real-time GUI views
- Animation capabilities
- Support for queries from various sources into one table
- Data collection/storage – can collect data from various databases and store them within a single or multiple other data sources
- Alerts available such as SNMP traps and customized alerts/actions
- Customization available for commands, functions, and external interfaces
“Perform enables Spirent’s customers to more tightly monitor their networks and offer increasingly stricter SLAs, thereby increasing revenues and margins,” said Ted Wilson, vice president of Business Development for SL Corporation. “The comprehensive real-time visibility provided by RTView will further help these customers to identify performance issues more quickly – prior to impacting services – which can lead to significant operational cost savings.”
