SEATTLE, WA – June 02, 2002 – Fulcrum Technologies, Inc. (Fulcrum), a telecommunications industry leader in automated network Asset Tracking solutions, today announced the release of CATS iView, a new module for its popular CATS product line. Using SL Corporation’s graphical modeling system J/Net to build the module, Fulcrum provides users with graphical representations to display network assets using detailed, accurate models for network management.
CATS is the industry-leading Asset Tracking and Materials Management application provided by Fulcrum Technologies to over thirty-five (35) telcos in North America and Europe. CATS utilizes mobile computing and bar code technology to automate the process of tracking and managing valuable network assets. CATS integrates with industry-leading financial, provisioning, and engineering applications to ensure consistent enterprise-wide asset management.
“We are proud to be releasing a version 1.0 module with such robust functionality. Our customers understand that carriers must improve asset and inventory management, particularly during these tough economic times,” said Fulcrum CEO, Brent Bauer. “The Fulcrum iView solution enables companies manage their network assets graphically. As a result of implementing iView, Fulcrum CATS customers will have even better control over network assets.”
Prior to iView, CATS users could only view information about physical assets via data reports. Now detailed information can be extracted by drilling down on graphics, selecting options from a menu tree, or using robust built-in queries (for example, searching by port type or availability). By integrating J/Net, an extension to the J/Developer package that is used to quickly develop high performance graphic interfaces, iView offers users the ability to view their assets by region, site, rack or row. Rather than running a report to determine what is at a given location, users can now drill down from a map of the country, to a state, to a specific site, to a specific “rack,” then view a pop-up graphic of the rack to see what is on it. If connected to polling solutions, iView will allow the user to drill down to port/interface data only available directly from the network element.
J/Net offers an unprecedented degree of flexibility, optimized to provide advanced mapping capabilities in stand-alone applications, or compact applets ideal for web access. J/Net allows the rapid development of applications to display nodes and links over cartographic maps and the creation of physical network displays or logical views with Grid, Tree, Spring, or Circular layouts. “We are excited about the integration of our solution within Fulcrum’s iView module,” said SL Corporation CEO, Tom Lubinski. “Together we can help users better display, monitor and analyze their data so that they can manage business application initiatives more effectively.”
Fulcrum’s specific focus on telecommunications, along with years of experience working with dozens of telecom companies, has given Fulcrum unique insight into the Asset Tracking and Materials Management requirements of Telecommunications service providers.
